Helpful Recovery Tips After Your Laser Eye Surgery

Getting a laser eye surgery can be considered to be a big deal especially if you’ve been dependent on prescription glasses or contact lenses for a while, and you can’t wait to be finally rid of them. This procedure aims to bring back clarity to the vision of those individuals who may be suffering from nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism, which is why it’s certainly something to get excited about.

Understandably, however, there are those who may feel worried about the outcome of the procedure, and how much effort they should put into their recovery. Here are some tips that should help you better face the laser eye surgery, particularly during the healing period.

Wear Protective Eyewear

Goggles may not necessarily go well with your fashion sense, but wear it anyway because it’s good for your eyes. Remember, you just had laser surgery; your eyes need to remain protected from infection. You should also wear this as you sleep through the night—it may be uncomfortable, yes, but it’s for your own safety too. Better that you go through a minor inconvenience rather than involuntarily rubbing your eyes in the middle of the night, potentially damaging your eyes.

Don’t Forget Your Prescription Drops

After the procedure, you will be given eyedrops to prevent dryness. Make sure that you administer it properly, and as prescribed by your doctor. It’s advisable that you keep your hands washed clean at all times, especially when applying the said eyedrops to mitigate the risk of infection.

Avoid Pollution

As much as possible, try to stay in clean environments to avoid exposure to pollution, allergens, and the likes. Although you’re wearing glasses, you must bear in mind that you still must rest well so that you can heal faster.
