Tips in Preparing for a Laser Eye Surgery

Undergoing a LASIK laser eye surgery may not be that big of a deal in terms of procedure. After all, it’s considered to be one of the most common type of eye surgery. In fact, patients can even afford to go home as soon as the operation is done. They don’t need to stay for any longer in the hospital to recuperate unlike most surgeries.

Despite this, however, you still should prepare for your upcoming laser eye surgery. Its success, after all, will not only depend on the skills of your eye doctor, but also on your cooperation. Here are some of the things you must do before going into that operating room.

Clear Your Eyes

This means that the ladies should not put on any eye cream, makeup, or false eyelashes. This is so that you can have the time to clear your eyes of any dirt or debris that may come from said items. This is especially important on the day before and the surgery itself.

Switch to Glasses

If you’re wearing contacts, switch them out to a pair of glasses so that you can “rest” your cornea. Contact lenses are known to affect the shape of your cornea, which in turn could compromise the accuracy of your eye measurements. Make sure to consult with your doctor first, so that you can safely ease into the transition from contact lenses to eyeglasses.

Have a Companion Have someone support you as you go through the process. It is understandably nerve-wracking, after all, and it sure would be nice to have someone there for you. Apart from that, it’s also not advisable for you to drive by yourself until you are completely healed, so you need someone to drive you, especially after the procedure.
